FileMaker has released a new update to its platform in the forms of FileMaker Pro, FileMaker Server, FileMaker Go, and FileMaker Web Direct. This is a great step forward. In the upcoming days, we’ll post videos and blogs detailing new features of the platform.

We’ll take a look at the new in-line portal progress indicator for Pro and Go, and explore caveats about this functionality. Building on the Mac OS, FileMaker has improved the full-screen capabilities. Dawn Heady will explain this feature and focus on the “gotchas” for existing multi-window systems.

Jeremy Brown will go into depth on the exciting script workspaces updates and tweaks that greatly increase a developer’s efficiency when coding.

FileMaker has greatly increased our security awareness. Wim Decorte will examine that and give us some best practices for dealing with this very important topic.

For FileMaker Go, we’ll take a look at the new interactions with iOS’s touch ID.

And Bill Heizer and Martha Zink will show us the new iBeacon functionality.

Finally, in FileMaker Go, we’ll look at the expanded app extensions, being able to export data, or an entire file into more applications and storage areas.

In FileMaker Server, Mislav Kos will show us the new improved Top Call Logging. Its capabilities to allow developers to see more of the activity on the files.

In Web, we’ll take a look at the updates made in this release, including larger dialogues for calendar value lists, etc. And we’ll look at the new support for mobile devices.

Finally, we’ll look at some minor developer related tweaks in the inspector. There is a new field control type, and a new option for the pop-up control. Agnes Riley will examine the implications of these features.

Mike Duncan will examine the new truncate table script step and point out its uses and the cautions when using this step.
