Soliant to Present FileMaker at DevCon 2016

Chicago, IL – March 16, 2016 – Soliant’s Makah Encarnacao, Sara Severson, and Bob Bowers have been selected to speak at the 2016 FileMaker Developer Conference, which will take place July 18-21 at The Cosmopolitan hotel in Las Vegas.

With more than 1,500 attendees from around the world, this year’s FileMaker DevCon will feature 60 sessions over the course of four days, covering all aspects of FileMaker app development. The theme of the 2016 conference is “Aptitude for Apps.” Conference tracks include: mobility, design, innovation, web, and business.

Makah, a Technical Project Lead at Soliant, will be speaking about creating developer-friendly custom apps, providing valuable information to FileMaker developers of all levels on how to build “a custom app that’s clean and intuitive on the inside as well as on the outside.”

Developers often work in teams or face working on an app that someone else originally built. By following clear best practices, a developer can make it substantially easier to maintain and extend a given FileMaker app. This leverages FileMaker’s fundamental primary advantage: rapid application development. By keeping development practices and code clean, efficient, and well-documented, a FileMaker app can grow with an organization and maintain both its relevance, use, and adaptability for its users.

Soliant Consulting will be the official sponsor of the conference’s popular FileMaker Developer Challenge. This year, the event will feature small teams of developers competing to design the best custom apps for local nonprofits, allowing attendees to make a difference will showing off their FileMaker skills.

Additionally, certified FileMaker experts from Soliant Consulting will present training sessions throughout the conference:

Soliant CEO Bob Bowers will be leading an advanced training session, where attendees will learn about a range of topics including the ExecuteSQL function, complex scripting, and Relationships Graph techniques.

Sara Severson, a Technical Project Lead at Soliant, will be giving an intermediate training session, providing “high-level discussions of important concepts needed to create rich functionality in your custom apps” including back end architecture, user interfaces, and automation.

FileMaker, Inc. has hired Soliant Consulting for the past eight releases to produce its FileMaker Training Series curriculum. The team has delivered training to thousands of FileMaker developers over the span of more than two decades.

CEO Bob Bowers is widely known for his expertise in the field of software development. He is a recipient of the FileMaker Excellence Award and has co-authored seven books on FileMaker Pro database development. In 2008 he was inducted into the Chicago Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame.

Makah Encarnacao graduated from UCLA with a degree in Cognitive Science. She began her career at Soliant Consulting where she received a solid foundation in FileMaker basics and best practices. Nine years and seven certifications later, she now leads a range of projects as well as co-chairs Soliant’s pro bono committee.
